Bank holidays, I hate them! They are just another excuse for things not to get done, we are waiting on a few things to happen, one of them being to do with a bank so as the title of the day suggests, this just wont get done. Also they mess around with This Morning schedule and I do like a bit of This Morning, think it stems back to my childhood where This Morning meant DAY OFF!!!

Anyway with the kids all home its been a fun day, after all the usual boring chores etc we decided a tent was required in the house.  So we spent a little time scouting about for the best place, which in the end was under Oliver's (6yrs) midi sleeper bed.  The tent is fabulous and still standing actually, even although Elliot (2yrs) is the human equivalent of the tazmanian devil (with slightly less hair and probably just as much slobbers).  So they played in that for a bit and then we got hungry...usually when we get peckish on a day off its cake or biscuit making time but our oven packed in last week and still waiting on getting it fixed so that wasn't an option UNTIL I remembered the 5 min choc microwave cake my sister told us about.

4 tbs flour
4 tbs sugar
3 tbs cocoa power
3 tbs milk
3 tbs oil

all into a mug, mix and into microwave on full heat for 4-5 mins (hope thats everything)

This was followed almost immediately by 2 full bowls of fruit salad each, I sometimes wonder why kids are blessed with teeth ??? they never chew their food anyways ...

So that was all thats new today, it was a kid day rather than work day so not much R&R news from me.  I had an email this morning from a lady in America asking if she can write an article about us on her fashion blog, which is always nice! and mum emailed me earlier with some other very exciting news which I need to keep quiet about just now, honestly though if she wasn't reading this blog, like right now, I would just spill but I can't so it will be news for another blog.

Was that you in the paper?

This week has been a mass of bead deliveries.  Its been like Christmas but on a shinier scale, yes really!  One of the wonderful things about working with precious gems is the wonderful array of colours you get, one gem can have loads of varieties and just when you think you've found your favourite another comes along.  I liken them to a box of chocolates, you have general favourites, maybe one actual total favourite and others you can see a reason for and like just because they add variety to the box.  There are also the ones you don't like so much but someone in your house likes so there is still a reason to have them there.  I am going to move away from the chocolate analogy as its 3.30pm and I get a sugar dip at this time every day and always end up eating something belonging to one of the kids!!

We had another article in a newspaper about Ruby and Rose Jewellery today, this one has been put away safely until I get round to framing it.  The last one is covered in kiss marks (my kids got hold of it!)  The pic in it is lovely, I really like it!  The photographer was over yesterday to take it and he rendered my mum speechless, no idea why, she just couldn't get any words out.........which was nice ;)

So after a busy week already I am wondering what the rest of the week holds, but tonight is Apprentice night, I'm hooked!

(since I have mentioned my 'kids' a few times, I thought I would upload a pic of one of our pieces which happens to be named after my little princess.....this is the Ava Bracelet)

Family/work part 2

Yey! Following on from my last blog, I am over the moon for 2 reasons;

1. Isaac is back to his usual self and is eating his food and smiling again, he is currently having a wee nap beside me after having a huge lunch (well huge for him!)

and

2. The photographer has rescheduled for tomorrow morning so we will still be in the paper! Now to think what to wear ???

I have been spending a lot of time optimising our website for search engines, mainly Google just now, after attending an intense course to show me the ins and outs of it all.  Well I think my brain is trying to tell me I've been spending too long on it as I spent most of last night dreaming about rose quartz rectangles, I think they were edible like ice lollies though, yes thats coming back to me now actually.....

Like these from our Florence collection, I think they look like flavoured ice now.

I would like to say thank you to those who have started to follow us, I have been having a good read of your blogs too and your pages look amazing! Hopefully I ll get more used to this as time goes on

Lovage to you folks xx

Family/work

I've never written a blog before and to be honest I haven't read that many either so I'm not too sure what is expected from me yet.  I'm guessing this first one might  be a bit boring!

Last week was busy, we have revamped our Sofia, Florence and Rosa bracelets for summer and the website is coming along nicely after a lot of hard work and a few verbal oppositions (big barneys!).

We also had a fabulous 2 page article written about Ruby and Rose Jewellery in the Daily Record.  Daily Record article .  We were really happy with it as not only did it show our jewellery to more people but it also helped in a small way to raise awareness of a very rare condition.

From this we now have interest from a few local newspapers.  We have done our interview with them and had the photographer scheduled to come out Friday morning, but on Thursday my littlest boy was taken into hospital with suspected sepsis....what a fright we got.  Isaac was a tiny 4lbs 14ozs when he was born and at 9 months old he is about 16lbs so he is still my tiny boy, it was horrible to see  him so ill.  I am happy to say he is much better now and consultant suspected a 'viral thing'.

As for the photographer watch this space!
